The Akohekohe is only found in the high elevation rainforests of Maui where they drink nectar from the island's beautiful flowers. Despite the flowers, some have said the Akohekohe smell 'pungent'. Non-native mosquitoes carrying diseases like avian malaria are a major threat, and their population is declining. Half of the proceeds from the sale of this poster will be donated to the American Bird Conservancy.
